On November 6, 2024, Iwatani Corporation (8088, hereinafter referred to as "Iwatani") announced its agreement to acquire all shares of ISG, Inc. (hereinafter referred to as "ISG"), which is headquartered in Funabashi City, Chiba Prefecture. This acquisition aims to combine ISG’s strong regional customer base with Iwatani’s nationwide reach to strengthen and enhance operational efficiency in the LP gas business.

Purpose of M&A
Since 1953, Iwatani has grown to serve 3.3 million households across Japan, from Hokkaido to Okinawa, after pioneering the nationwide sales of household propane gas. The company has established a comprehensive system for the stable supply of LP gas, from import to retail.

Through this acquisition, Iwatani intends to integrate ISG's customer base and expand its business and sales efficiency in Chiba and Ibaraki Prefectures. Furthermore, by combining Iwatani’s decarbonization initiatives with ISG’s diverse services, including home renovation, the company aims to provide a more comprehensive range of energy and lifestyle services. With this acquisition, Iwatani seeks to reinforce its position as a “comprehensive energy and lifestyle services provider.”
